Blood oranges are in season now and what better way to celebrate the warm weather than a popsicle? I made these popsicles a bit more fun by adding Grand Marnier. I used these ice ball trays which made these small popsicles perfect for a small treat or a nice intermezzo. You can use any ice cube tray or even some large popsicle molds if you want to make a fun night of it. Here’s the recipe:
Blood Orange and Grand Marnier Popsicles:
- 1 ¼ c. (284 g) fresh blood orange juice, strained
- ¼ c. (58 g) Grand Marnier
- Pinch salt
- Plastic wrap, as needed
- Toothpicks, as needed
Mix the juice, Grand Marnier, and salt thoroughly. Pour into ice cube tray. Carefully wrap the tray tightly in 2-3 layers of plastic wrap. Insert a toothpick into each compartment and freeze until solid. Remove the plastic wrap and carefully un-mold the popsicles. For an interesting presentation, serve then stuck in an orange.
